Why Career Pathways? Career Pathways group all jobs into six easy-to-understand categories: Art, Business, Engineering, Health, Human Services, Natural Resources Children grasp the Career Pathway concept easily.	Why offer a careers program at the elementary level? Through classroom activities, the counselor will begin to build a positive relationship by doing fun activities. Career exploration is a natural part of child development. Young children love to play "pretend." This exploration of careers can be encouraged and expanded by using a coordinated career guidance program. How will students learn about different careers? Career Pathways are used as the foundation for the Pathway Pals program. Career awareness activities vary by grade level. They include listening to the storybook, doing mazes, completing a poster project, picture book and more.

WHAT'S INCLUDED:	DESCRIPTION:
	K-3 LESSON PLANS Provide a foundation for career awareness in your school district. It is so easy... complete lesson plans! Flexible Lesson Plans The lesson plans are flexible. Present only one Career Pathway at each session for six visits per class. However, if your time is limited, present two Pathways at each classroom visit.
1. Children cut out six shapes. Each shape has a pathway name. 2. They match and glue the shape onto the pathway page...color and WOW... they have created their first pathway booklet. 3. When complete, a parent letter can be sent with the booklet... introducing the Career Pathway concept.	GRADE K PICTURE BOOK The coordinated elementary career program begins with your youngest students. Children in grade K will create and take home their own career picture book. Each time the counselor visits the Kindergarten classroom, students will create a new page by cutting out a shape, gluing in place and decorating page.
1. Make a copy for each of your first grade students. 2. In each of the three classroom visits, read the storybook 3. Next, students will do some fun activity pages. When complete, each student has a career book to take home and share with their family. The activities: Following Mazes, Coloring, Matching, Cut & Glue, Connecting the dots	GRADE 1 ACTIVITY BOOK A workbook master is included with each program set. Students will love the activities. Twenty pages... use the master to make a booklet for every student
Six Career Pathway Posters For Classroom Instruction There is a full-color poster for every career pathway: Art, Business, Engineering, Health, Human Services, Natural Resources	GRADE 2 & 3 PATHWAY POSTERS Each 11"X17" photo print poster integrates the storybook's hand-sketched characters with real-life pictures. In second grade, the posters introduce related career classroom activities. Suggested activities are listed in the Pathway Pals Quick View Enrichment Guide. In grade three, the posters serve as an example for the development of their own group pathway poster project.
